WTO Public Forum 2024

The World Trade Organization is organizing its annual Public Forum in Geneva, Switzerland. The 2024 edition will explore how re-globalization can help make trade more inclusive and ensure that its benefits reach more people. On this occasion, our colleagues from the Sustainable Trade team will be co-presenting a session on “Trade as a catalyst for circular and inclusive textile value chain”. This session explores how trade dimensions could accelerate circular business models in textiles, such as by improving cross-border waste flows, and strengthening waste definition criteria, customs procedures, product standards, and labeling.  This session will discuss important policy dimensions conducive to trade in novel fibers, upcycling of post-industrial and post-consumer residues; trade-in-services enabling less water-intensive processes and data transparency in textile value chains.
