US state of Illinois gas tax increases state revenue by $100M

8 October 2019: According to the Illinois Department of Revenue, a new gas tax increase from 19 cents to 38 cents, that went into effect on July 1, yielded a $100 million increase in public revenue. The amount is intended for the Pritzker’s Rebuild Illinois plan, which contributes towards a statewide construction program for roads, bridges, mass transit, schools and other public works.
