24.10.2018 – Germany must find a way to reduce its agricultural emissions, which make up seven percent of total greenhouse gas emissions, to reach its goal of carbon neutrality by mid-century. Farming subsidies, however, aren’t geared to preventing climate change and even though greening rules were added to the complex subsidy allocation system that is the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), a large share of these subsidies are flat rate and non-targeted.
