The European Parliament declares climate emergency and calls for fossil fuel subsidy phase out

28 November 2019: Ahead of the UN COP25 Climate Change Conference in Madrid, the European Parliament approved a resolution declaring a climate and environmental emergency in Europe and globally. Specifically, MEPs call on member states to: reduce emissions from aviation and shipping, double their contributions to the international Green Climate Fund, and phase out all direct and indirect fossil fuel subsidies by 2020.
