India has sought a clear dispute settlement mechanism in the global agreement to end harmful fisheries subsidies for which talks are going on. Since the agreement is “rooted on the plank of ‘sustainability’” and not trade, India has told the World Trade Organization (WTO) that the quality of the text should not be compromised, and there should be no haste in concluding the negotiations by December, as proposed by some developed countries.
