G20 retreat from climate finance pledge, reiterate commitment on phasing out fossil fuel subsidies

18 March 2017, Baden Baden –  G20 Finance Ministers met in Baden-Baden, Germany on 17-18 March. The communique adopted by Ministers dropped a reference on the readiness to finance measures against climate change as agreed in Paris in 2015. Ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to rationalise and phase out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies, encouraging all G20 countries to initiate peer review processes as soon as feasible.
