In a recent editorial for EC Tax Review law journal, Han Kogels goes into the ambitious targets the EU has set for itself to reduce its GHG emissions progressively by 2050. He makes some remarks on the consequences for fiscal policy in the EU, and offers an overview of the challenges governments can face when seeking to change fiscal policy.
The editorial also provides a table with a breakdown of the CO2 emissions of the individual Member States (ranked by Gross Domestic Product – GDP) from 1990 to 2016.
