In 2019, the Ministry of Public Finances of Guatemala, in collaboration with GIZ, developed the Environmental Fiscal Strategy (Estrategia Fiscal Ambiental) of Guatemala. The strategy aims to improve the quality of public expenditure, to mobilize additional resources to finance the improvement of environmental quality and the fight against climate change and to incorporate green fiscal policies, among others.
