Fisheries subsidies – The path toward a sustainable global agreement

Fisheries subsidies are estimated to amount to $35 billion, of which a large proportion directly or indirectly contributes to over-fishing. These subsidies have perverse impacts on the environment, food security, poverty elimination, livelihoods, employment and the economy.
