20 August 2018 – A recent study on the impact of climate change mitigation policies on food security finds that a significant carbon tax could trigger food shortages by 2050 for many of the poorest people in the world. According to the study published in the Journal Nature Climate Change, the negative impacts would be even more prevalent in vulnerable, low-income regions such as sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, where food security problems are already acute.
