SUMMARY:5th Regional Dialogue about Climate Finance in Latin America and the Caribbean
DESCRIPTION:During the fifth “Regional Dialogue about Climate Finance in Latin America and the Caribbean” organized by the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica\, the Green Fiscal Policy Network and UN ECLAC hosted a session on the creation of framework conditions for the mobilization of internal resources for low carbon development. This event allowed participants to share experiences on the progress made to date in achieving NDC goals\, and to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with meeting those goals\, notably in terms of financing\, taxation\, public and private investment\, among others. Furthermore\, it created an arena for countries to discuss innovative approaches to the challenges posed by climate change\, offering new solutions to boost the financing of NDCs. The session included a presentation by the UN Environment Programme about the international experience in the application of green fiscal policies\, carbon taxes and incentives for low carbon development; as well as a panel discussion with experts from Chile\, Mexico and Costa Rica who shared their experiences on the deployment of green fiscal reform.\n\nPlease find the concept note through this link\, the video here and photographs of the event through this link.\n\nThe report of Conclusions and Systematization of the V Regional Dialogue on Climate Finance in Latin America is now available through this link.
