A Climate Dividend for Australians (UNSW)

As part of the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Grand Challenge on Inequality, a study that offers a market-based approach to address climate change through a carbon tax was released. Based on a carbon dividend plan formulated by the Washington-based Climate Leadership Council, the Australian Climate Dividend Plan involves a tax of CO2 emissions on electricity, direct combustion, transport, fugitive emissions, and industrial processes (‘the carbon tax’). The revenue generated would then be returned, evenly, to every voting-age Australian citizen. Download the study on the UNSW website.
