Delivering the Green State Development Strategy: Vision 2040 – The role of green fiscal policies

Within the framework of Guyana’s Green State Development Strategy (GSDS), a national development plan providing long-term vision and guidance for Guyana’s economic, social and environmental development, the Guyanese Ministry of Finance together with the Partnership for Action on the Green Economy (PAGE) and the UN Environment Programme organized a technical workshop on the role of fiscal policy for the GSDS. The workshop discussed i.e. the overall context and financing strategy for the GSDS, in particular the role of fiscal policies and reforms in mobilizing domestic public revenues to support the GSDS, and explored how green fiscal policies can shift behaviour and mobilise revenues to support implementation of the GSDS in key sectors/thematic areas such as renewable energies, transport, sustainable agriculture, and natural resources.
