23 June 2017 – The first transit strategy from London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s administration contains a passage that considers replacing the existing central London congestion charge with a pay-per-mile charge that spreads across the whole municipal area. The plan can help to start a conversation on how London intends to achieve its long-run target that 80 per cent of all journeys should be conducted by public transit, bike or on foot by 2041, up from 64 per cent today.
